Airport Pickup Etiquette in Pakistan
Meeting someone at a Pakistani airport is a social occasion, but airports work best when pickups are organised: a small group, a clear meeting point and moving vehicles. These practical tips help everyone.
Before you go
- Track the flight and wait for confirmation of landing; see how to track a family member’s flight.
- Agree on a meeting point and a way to reach each other, such as a phone.
- Decide who will come: a few people are easier than a large group.
At the airport
- Follow the rules for visitors: usually only passengers go inside the terminal, and visitors wait outside the arrivals area. Check the airport’s signs and staff instructions.
- Do not block the road or stop in no-stopping areas. Use the pickup or parking area; see the airport guides, such as Lahore pickup and drop-off.
- Keep walkways clear and keep children close.
- Be ready for a wait: international arrivals can take over an hour after landing.
When you meet
Keep greetings out of the way of traffic and exits. Help with bags, and consider the passenger’s tiredness after a long journey.
Safety
Be wary of strangers offering rides or help with bags in exchange for money. Use official or well-known transport; see transport guides.
Respect for others
Airports are busy. Keep noise down, and follow instructions from staff and security.
