Lost or Damaged Baggage: Claim Process in Pakistan
If your bag is lost or damaged, report it at the airline’s baggage desk before you leave the arrivals area, and get a written report. Reporting at once is the most important step.
At the airport
- Go to the airline’s baggage service desk or “lost and found” before you leave.
- Fill in a property irregularity report (PIR) and keep your copy and reference number.
- Give your contact details and delivery address.
- Show your baggage tag and boarding pass.
- Take photos of damage, and keep the damaged bag.
For delayed bags
Airlines usually try to deliver delayed bags to your address. Ask what expenses they will reimburse, such as essentials, and keep receipts.
Make a claim
- Claim in writing to the airline, with your report reference, receipts, and a list of contents with values.
- International flights fall under international conventions with time limits for reporting damage (a matter of days) and delays (a few weeks), so act quickly.
If your bag is declared lost
The airline will ask for a claim. Compensation limits apply and depend on the rules for your flight.
Tips
- Photograph your bag and its contents before travel.
- Put your contact details inside the bag.
- Carry valuables, medicines and documents in hand baggage.
