Best Time to Fly in Pakistan by Season

For the most reliable flying in Pakistan, spring and autumn usually offer the best weather. Winter brings fog on the plains, summer brings heat and storms, and the north is best in the warmer months, outside the monsoon.

By season

  • Autumn (about October to November): generally clear skies and comfortable temperatures. Smog and the start of fog can appear towards the end.
  • Winter (about December to February): the highest risk of fog on the northern plains, mostly at night and early morning. Karachi and the south are usually mild. Snow can close mountain routes.
  • Spring (about March to April): pleasant weather; dust and storms start later.
  • Early summer (about May to June): heat and dust storms; very high temperatures.
  • Monsoon (about July to September): thunderstorms and heavy rain.

For the north

Flights to Skardu and Gilgit run most reliably in the warmer, clearer months, but cloud and rain can still cancel them. Read why northern flights cancel.

Time of day

In fog season, flights after late morning usually avoid the worst fog. In the mountains, morning flights usually have better conditions than afternoon ones.

Peak demand

Eid holidays, summer vacations, and Hajj and Umrah seasons bring crowded flights and high prices; see Eid flights and cheapest months to fly.
