What Is Widebody? Definition & Meaning in Aviation

A widebody (or twin-aisle) aircraft has two aisles in the passenger cabin and is used mainly on long or busy routes.

In plain language

Typical examples are the Airbus A330, A350 and Boeing 777 and 787. They carry more passengers and cargo than single-aisle aircraft and can fly farther.

Example

Flights between Pakistan and Europe, North America and Saudi Arabia for Hajj often use widebody aircraft.

Why it matters

Widebodies are the aircraft of long-haul and high-demand routes. If you are flying to Europe, North America or Saudi Arabia, you are likely to be on one.
